I'd think that the difference between playing BF3 on the PS3 and the PC would be the amount of people in the room and map sizes.

because I don't have any money right now. And he uses newegg for his parts. I mean seriously, I would end up probably spending twice as much for the same thing if I built it from scratch. I built my entire PC from parts bought at Newegg it's a great site.

1) PS4 does look to have solid hardware but PC will always trump based on the fact that you don't have to wait ten years to upgrade. 10 years might as well be a century in the tech market. What Sony really brings to the table is exclusives. Why is anyone so worried about upgrading? That's what I don't get about PC gamers. Always wanting or having to pour more and more money into their systems with very little improvement to the output and generally no new benefit (being able to play some new line of games because they upgraded their graphics card). Scenario: PC Gamer: Hey dude I haven't seen you on BF3 lately what gives? Console Gamer: I've been playing my PS3 with some friends. PC Gamer: Why? PC is way more powerful and elite. In fact I just got a new graphics card. Bet your PS3 can't do that! Console Gamer: Oh cool, did you get a new game that required a better card? PC Gamer: No I'm still playing BF3, but now I can see the hair on my characters arm. Isn't that sexy??!! Console Gamer: Umm... so you upgraded to see hair? Dude you need help. PC Gamer: Well PC is better. Console Gamer: Right on dude.. ttyl. First you don't have to pour more money into your PC if you don't want to. The option to upgrade is there though if you choose not to wait ten years and want to keep up with the latest tech. I would compare it to this scenario.. You own a dvd player in 2005 Blu Ray player comes out 2006 with it's obvious high definition and higher quality sound benefits etc You decide to stick with DVD until 2015 when it's basically an obsolete technology The benefits of current PC tech are light years ahead of PS3 and that's why on BF3 you can have 64 players on the same maps as PS3. This gives the maps a much more full feeling and the graphics in every way are much better. There is nothing wrong with PS3 or PS4 but to deny the tech advancements over a 10 year period is silly.

I KNOW my PS3 looks better than that lmao!
I bought a PC and when I bought my PC I intended to keep it as is for at least 5 years because i knew the hardware going inside wouldn't be leaped and bounded over in a few months.
And I agree with Crusty Newegg is awesome!

I don't mind PC gaming but I prefer console gaming. PC gaming can be expensive and I prefer to use a controller then mouse and keyboard. I know you can use a controller on the PC also, but for FPS and RTS games you pretty much have to use mouse and keyboard if you want to do good.
If you want to be good or not be disadvantaged you gotta have like a separate gaming keyboard/mouse, a good monitor, you probably don't want stuff running in the background on your computer for lag/framerate issues so that can be kinda inconvenient.
PC graphics of course are superior, but the graphics on the PS3 are not bad....it's a 6-7 year old console and I'm sure the PS4 will be better.
That being said if your on a budget or money is tight I would just stick with console gaming.

That picture is CLEARLY complete bs. LMAO!!!
And as for the "latest tech", yea.. not enough difference to warrant spending a couple hundred on a new anything unless it gives you the capability to play a whole new lineup of games.
Yes you may have the latest but who cares if you're going to be playing the same shit. Also as someone else pointed out why play on an uneven playing field when you can play on a much more evenly matched system.

I have seen both and the PS3 kinda makes my eyes bleed. When it comes to the latest tech it's really a preference of the end user. You may not care if your GPU is obsolete but others do and are willing to acquire new parts. When it comes to mouse and keyboard versus a controller again that is a personal preference. I will say that the mouse is infinitely more accurate and the keyboard obviously has a ton more keys which allows you to play simulators etc. I'm not saying I won't purchase a PS4 because I will probably 2 because my son plays a lot now. I can't ignore the obvious differences between the platforms though.

This is a little better comparison. Not that big of a difference. More grass and some contrast. A few extra scratches on the gun. However that's PS3 and not PS4 which is obviously going to be an upgrade. But it is what it is. Everyone knows that consoles are very quickly catching up to PC as far as performance and quality of graphics. Here is a side by side video of PS4 vs PC running Unreal Engine 4. Make sure you set the video to 1080 for the full effect. The differences aren't very big and this is an UNPOLISHED version of PS4. Sooo.... yea.

Sure they catch up a little every tenth year when they launch a new console. lol
Love how you post a comparison video based on a platform that hasn't launched yet versus a PC we don't even know the specs of. Even in this video there is a noticeable difference. lol

I'm not saying for anyone NOT to get a PC. Shit get two if you got the cheese. I'm a computer programmer for Pete's sake. So I am not anti PC by any means. All I'm saying is this. PC gamers tend to as you previously stated try to get the latest tech. Which in the PC world doesn't usually tend to jump by leaps and bounds (when referring to the gaming world). It's not like I have an Atari and you have some virtual reality system. The gap is relatively small.
What it boils down to is if you like tinkering with your PC on the side as well as gaming. It's in essence comparable to those of us who drive every day vehicles to get us from point A to point B on the one hand, versus those who want to their car souped up with all the components even though it's illegal to take full advantage of them and still only gets you from point A to point B. And admittedly that analogy isn't perfect it's pretty damn close.
PC gaming is for the super enthusiast and console gaming is for those who just want to play the damn game without all the extra boosting and exchanging of parts. Some of us get enough of that at work and game only to have fun and socialize. Yes, it's true as a PC gamer you may wield a bigger technological cock than me but when it boils down to the nitty gritty it doesn't mean a thing because we're both f**king the same princess (thanks Mario).
So with that said, I'll stick to my consoles with you everyone can do as they wish because it's a free country.

Although it is legal to run 120 frames per second on PC lol My point is yes there is an option to stay on the cutting edge. At the same time all games these days have the ability to scale graphics back for your particular hardware specs. So you can do both. My other point is yes when the PS3 and the PS4 launch they are relatively close in specs to PC. As the months and years go by the gap gets larger. Right now that gap might as well be the grand canyon but this fall it will be closer. The price tag to close that gap will cost you about as much as you could build or upgrade a PC for. Where Sony, Xbox and PC compete is exclusives.. Hardware is a place they can't compete until they go full streaming gaming.

First off don't get a laptop. I regret it every day. You can't as easily upgrade like you're talking about and trust me it's a poor investment. Build your own. Buy parts you have money for now and wait on graphics card and core until the very end so you can have all your updates... BTW PS4 will be so much easier to develop on and I don't see any reason to get a PC when PS4 is ran off the same structure. Most of that power PC gamers are talking about is used to run BOTH the OS and the game and all the windows extra junk they run in the background. PS4s power and memory will go MOSTLY to running games. PC gaming is more of a headache than it's worth. Just my opinion.

I think it can be a headache at times, like if something doesn't work or you get some bug, you have to find out what is causing the problems and then uninstall and reinstall crap.

There may be an occasional driver issue if you don't keep up on your updates which most PC gamers do. The upside to that is you don't have to wait ten years for an upgrade..
